to those of you who were secrely smoking while being a jw how did your cover get blown?
do you have any funny stories to share even if at that time they may not have been funny at all due to impending consequences.
This has brought back an amusing memory I cant believe it's over 30 years ago now.
The son of an elder in his early teens having a smoke on his way to school. To get to school you had to cross a main road by way of a zebra crossing. On this occasion the car waiting at the zebra crossing was being driven by another elder in the congregation!!!
All these years on he's still in and i'm long gone and have never smoked in my life.

i hope to translate coc into a foreign language.. who can own the copyright of that meaningful book?.
i've tried to reach 'commentary press' with all the ways i can use, but i've not been able to communicate with anyone so far.. this project is not a commercial one but i hope to make sure of the copyright thing.. any help will be appreciated!.
'A can of worms' you no doubt have come to appreciate the saying AntiEntropy. Do you have a similar saying in korean that translates?
The time and effort you put into translating CoC and getting it out there is highly commendable and i hope it helps many more wake up.

it's 100% my fault he stopped being a witness according to the inlaws.
To think when questioned by angus stewart qc at the arc last year geoffry jackson (gb) said that jws have the freedom to leave! Yeah right... Really feel for you and your hubby, some of these elders are like dogs with a bone. The extent of the mind control with some of your family sounds to be off the scale, its like east berlin and the stazi. I wish you both the best, tough it out and hope the experience can draw you closer together.

hi bros.. after my father's publishing his book, "15 questions after 40 years of jw" , many ex-jw bros in korea became motivated to rush to the coc korean project.
however any secular project needs a fund eventhough it's a not-for-profit.
fortunately, a bunch of bros decided to donate generously $300~$7,000 to this unprofitable business.

Yep, although it was after I had already woke. Honestly I went about it the very hard way. I used only society pubs and secular history. What pretty much put the nail in the coffin was 607. The fact the organization has held onto that teaching is beyond me. The more that find out about it the more there will be that leave.
So using only their own pubs and a few emails with museums, archaeologists and the like I realized it was impossible for 607 to be true. At the turn of the last century many of the tablets in the Neo-Babylonian area had yet to be found or translated. Now we have thousands.
Subsequent to my own digging I fell upon "Gentile Times Reconsidered". The author in my opinion is the leading authority on this topic. I had dug many hours coming to my conclusion. I read this man's book and realized I hadn't even scratched the surface.
That then led me to Franz's book which I read without putting it down. Cover to cover. You simply can't read that book and stay a witness. At least not in good conscience.
But from the comments you have made in this thread am I to understand that if you'd known there was to be a new revised edition you would still be waiting to read it! Hadriel?

could you elaborate on who wrote certain books and brochures etc.?
i know you have written about articles you have contributed to, and also that coc lists the authors of some of the books, but do you remember at least some authors of some books / brochures / special articles?.

i brought it.. i plan to sell it and hope it goes to an apostate™not a jw completist.. .
i wonder how much it would be worth in uk money?.

I've only been out since 2012 but the dumbing down seems to be continuing at a pace. Only hope that things like this and the many greater concerns with the org will make more question and wake up.

the cognitive dissonance amongst jws has never been more obvious to me then what i just experience in the last 5 min.
long story short i had a phone conversation w/my mom about some things and i mentioned to her to look up what has been going on with their beloved organization in australia.
brother geoffrey jackson of the holy governing body was caught lying numerous times about several subjects including disassociations & shunning.
In a recent tc with my still in father (in his 70's) I asked if he had heard the term 'Guardians Of Doctrine' . He hadn't and when I explained GJ used it at the ARC referring to the GB, he too thought GJ was a non JW!
I myself left JWdumb three years ago, the incongruence was unbearable. I am pleased to say my mental health has never been better .
